Why do some of my videos have black bars around them?

If your video was created in an older theme, it will have a 4:3 aspect ratio.  The current platform uses a 16:9 aspect ratio.  All older videos will be bordered by black bars, and this is normal.

  1. Start a video using any theme with a native 16:9 aspect ratio, such as Business Friendly.
  2. Before adding any content to the first scene, switch to a theme that uses a native 4:3 aspect ratio.
  3. Complete your video.

The resulting video will not have black bars.

Note:  This work-around can only be used for the creation of new videos.  It does not work with videos that have already been created and saved. However, it is possible to save a video created in an older theme as a Starter, then add it to a video created using the work-around above. The resulting video will not have black bars. Please note that audio information is not stored with Starters.
