Why are the colors in my downloaded video slightly different from the hosted copy?

When a video hosted by GoAnimate is viewed, it is being rendered in real time using the viewer's browser and Flash plug-in.  This process streams raw data from our servers to the viewer's computer without loss of data.  This is known as "lossless playback."

When a video is converted to MP4 for downloading, a "lossy" process is used based on the MP4's internal h.264 coding technique.  This results in very subtle differences in color that can be noticed on high-end computer monitors.  This is normal and expected behavior.
